Weavers
Our rugs are handmade in Nepal by Tibetan and Nepalese craftspeople. These skilled rug makers hand knot every strand of yarn, each weaver producing about a square metre of rug a week. Larger rugs may have 2 or 3 weavers working side by side to craft them.
No child labour is used in the production of our rugs.
I came to Kathmandu to get work weaving rugs five years ago, when I was 18.
Weaving is very difficult but I am pleased to have my job. I can
support myself and give my children a good education.
