Damp areas
Avoid putting your rug in a damp area as this can attract pests like moths and silverfish or
lead to mildew.

Spills
For food and beverage spills:
1. Clean all spills immediately, before they can dry. Scoop up as much of the spill as possible.
2. Blot the spill with a clean white, absorbent cloth or paper towel to extract excessive moisture. Do not rub or brush any spills.
3. Place some towels under the spot to stop the floor getting wet. Rinse the stain with lukewarm water and blot with clean, white cloth or paper towels. Press down firmly to remove as much moisture as possible. Repeat until no stain is evident on the cloth or paper towels.
4. If the stain remains, clean it with a mild liquid soap (do not use strong detergents) and lukewarm water (1 teaspoon of liquid soap to 1 litre of water).
NOTE: Test for colour run in a small, inconspicuous area first. Apply the solution of mild soap and water on that area, press a clean, white, absorbent cloth or paper towel against it and check if any colour has bled onto that material or any discoloration has appeared on the rug. If discolouration occurs, seek the assistance of a professional cleaner.
5. If the colour does not run, apply the solution of liquid soap and water to the stain. Apply enough solution to cover the stain and let it soak for about 5 minutes. Work from the edge to the centre of the stain to prevent it from spreading.
6. Rinse with warm water and blot with a clean white, absorbent cloth or paper towel. Repeat until all detergent is removed. Do not rub or brush any spills.
7. Blot as dry as possible with a clean towel. When the nap feels dry, check the back of the rug to be sure the area is completely dry.
8. When the rug is completely dry, vacuum the pile to restore its texture.
